It has earned the status of a National Monument and has been included by UNESCO in the arab-norman itinerary of Palermo, Cefalù, and Monreale.
Other fascinating traces of its past can be found in the historic center, such as the medieval washhouse with its still-functioning lion-shaped cast-iron spouts, the Capo Marchiafava Bastion by the sea, in the heart of the historic village, and the remains of the Temple of Diana, which rise against a unique panorama at the end of the Salita dei Saraceni.
